best st of music to ogden city the school bonds have been sold STANDARD announced a few days ago that the oden ogden school board of education bad signed a contract forthe for the disposal of bonds at a rate of five per cent for yesterday a telegram was received from blair co the proposed purchasers announcing that had been deposited with the wells fargo people in new now york as a guaranty on the contract A telegram from wells fargo co verified the former notice the company has agreed to furnish lithographing the litho graphing and printing of the bonds on march 9 will be secured may let and the musicians oi ogden held a meeting and formed a permanent committee to en gincer the arrangements for a grand aneer brass a se and military band tournament to be held in this city come time about the middle of june next the following officers we were elected reelected E W kent chairman D it gill secretary yesterday afternoon the permanent committee held a meeting at which an 0 outline of the work was marked but the following preamble and resolution on was presented and unanimously adopted by the meeting ine eting to the chamber of commerce whereas at a meeting of the mu of ogden held on saturday february 6 1892 committees from the ogden city brass band and kents military band were appointed and formed into a permanent organization to device means and perfect arrangements for a grand military band tournament to be held in ogden on or about the dates of june and 1892 and whereas by united i interests n and cooperation a sentiment of harmony will recreated be created and perpetuated among the members of the musical fraternity and the merchants and business badness men gener brally be it therefore res 0 ived that this committee extends a cordial invitation to ibe the chamber of commerce and to all businessmen business men of ogden to join with ua us in this great uni der taking t in order that it can be made each such a success as to redound in credit not only to the MR KINO KING A subcommittee sub committee on financial arrangements was appointed consisting of gill layne and christendon Chri who will meet during the week and work up their branch of the business at the next meeting of the general committee other committees subcommittees sub bub will be appointed to take charge of the numerous arrangements to be made in an undertaking of this magnitude I 1 it is proposed to bring brass and military tande bands to ogden from towns and cities within a radius of 1000 milea miles of i this city and to so grade the prizes and I 1 classes of competition as to make it poe possible sible and desirable tor for all band bande from the highest to the lowest grade to enter the tournament no ogden musical organization will be allowed to compete both the local bands hands acting as one reception I 1 committee and ind by br the way they will have their bana bands full fall and attending to the comfort and entertainment of their visiting fellow musicians the contest will be conducted as fairly as possible poe sible and it is the intention of the committee to give satisfaction to listeners ers as well as to participators participatory in the competition A first prize of 1000 will be given I 1 the others graduating down to about 50 the contest will be BO so ar arranged as to make it impossible for a small band to be lett left without a chance bands of a riven given grade will be required to compete in their particular claes class and no other while the visitors are in this city t the he I 1 local musicians will do their utmost to please and entertain them and make their treatment by the Ju junction notion city something which will not be forgotten in a lifetime at the next meeting of the general committee the rules of the contest will ba be
