witness eaid said he bad had formed the opinion that the prisoner was at times insane big opinion was based on personal observation a at times he was perfectly sane at other times he was insane have bad had scientific conversations with him at times since bis his marriage but during such times be would seem to lose his reason for a short period and then become rational have met men of great character who were sometimes absentminded absent minded other times h he would sit for a long time not noticing what was going on about him or recognizing bis his friends since 1880 I 1 could not say
