care to know something of her work the objects of the alliance are Is ast 1st t TO to an enforce to r ce all laws that have been enacted ento anto fo or r the protection of women and children aad 2nd to secure all new now laws that shall be found necessary 3rd ard to investigate all business establishments and factories where women and children are employed and nd public institutions where women and ad children are maintained ath to procure the appointment of women as health inep tors as members of boards of and to serve on boards of management of public institutions the meetings of the alliance are held monthly the attendance being about abou t eighty women these meetings are open to the press and any visitors the papers gladly publish their reports and dub public I 1 to sentiment band of fellowship to one who has done so much tor for her sex and for humanity FOB FOR TUB THE university the ladles of the university committees have been considering the advisability of holding the university entertainment in the old opera building there has been DO no many complaints against having it there because because it seems so undesirable unsafe and insecure that it has been determined to serve lunches in the W W funge building on twenty fourth street and not have the entertainment tain ment part as was first anticipated As no building could be secured that would be convenient for both lunch lanch and entertainment it was thought best beat to serve a lunch now and have a series of fine fin entertainments some time la in the future the workers therefore are planning to make a speciality of their tables the refreshment freeli ment committee have an abundant supply an p I 1 Y of the very best there is I 1 in the city SI t they will have oysters served in the t various styles at lee ice fee cream and a nd fruits of all kind kin Y the ladies contemplate having a german table able a spanish table and other national tables which they propose making a very lery fine attraction
