surgical cases eighteen now L under treatment thirteen the doctor stated that since the establishment of the hospital there had bad been but two room rooms in use and the cases bad had been treated together he considered that more room was necessary and that a building could be erected on the present grounds tor for about COO in several instances patients had taken relapses on account of cases committee appointed to investigate the chances for pre i caring a new cemetery came tary site reported that a farm belonging to david kay had been decided upon to be paid for in ten and twenty year a number of the people owning property the street asked too much toi for the land and he be thought if the council would appoint a number ot of appraisers pral sers to settle the difficulty the street enough money to pay them then the property could be condemned by the court and purchased the names of the gentlemen who had bad been taxed unequally were taken down and cornec correction ion ordered mr air corey elated stated that be he did not consider the tax strictly equal when a piece of property near the weber r river ver should be taxed the same as one near washington avenue mr air blasdel stated that the people on the proposed street were nearly all poor and could not afford to pay the tax lie he would be in n favor of re repealing ai the law if it could possibly pos possibly be done mr air corey thought the matter could be settled by referring it to a committee mr harris said that ho be did not riot object to tto the opening but he did object to 0 pay paying rag per fool toot for land on washington V ahlston avenue as the property owners on the line were al all 1 poor and could not afford to pay such prices attorney haywood stated that the people down there were not poor aa as ono man owned a strip ne nearly arly a blocs long and eight rods wide and there is not a mortgage on any piece of property in the district the council resumed its regular business and the street matter was taken under advisement miscellaneous the city attorney reported that the supreme court bad had decided that the officers to be elected at the next municipal elect election ion were a may vicinity mr air turner arose and said that he had objected to the original motion but since that time thus he bad had been over the ground and considered the plat t the he best that could be made the
