Show t THE remonstrance 4 1 it is gratifying to see the ibe unanimity 11 I I 1 which prevails among all cl classes asses of 1 ogdene citizen citizens in regard to the disapproval a 1 of bilk bills pending in congress 1 wh which ch are aimed lit at the ment jentof of the entire mormon people 1 irrespective of political belief we I 1 are informed that the tri buttes petition for the passage of these bills was presented to the I 1 weber county republican publicAn Ke committee I 1 for endorsement bat the committee decided that the diatian ell semen t of the majority of the people of utah I 1 I 1 would be an outrage on the sacred rights of thousands of honest unoffending citizens that it would disturb I 1 the present harmonious and prosperous condition m which ia Is doing fco ko much for fair ogden and v would likely intimidate capitalists capita liets and thereby withhold from investment hundreds I 1 of thousands of dollars of eastern money which would otherwise continue 1 to flow into utah holding I 1 this view bew they very properly declined to endorse the petition believing I 1 bat that all parties would be better off without further congressional I 1 legislation several hundred ct cf the leading non mormon bankers merchants merc bante attorneys i I 1 physicians capitalists real estate t dealers members of the chamber of commerce and other prominent 0 citizens have promptly signed the remonstrance mone trance against the proposed legislation 17 and unqualifiedly express I 1 their desire to see the bills killed I 1 I 1 the sensible action taken by these shrewd and progressive business men ot of ogden should be quickly followed by the non mormon business men throughout the territory such action althis as this will do amro toward healing up tho the existing differences than can be readily imagined 1 and will contri contributes con buts incalculably to the result which all profess to be seeking the rapid and permanent emko I 1 development of the great inter moun emr 1 tain region |
