Show WHEAT AGAIN concerning the wheat question which we treated tuesday morning we have heard many opinion fon the majority of farmers with whom we have talked coincide with the views of tile STANDA it boova little time for them to under stand that it made no possible daffe r once to them in the matte griets wh ther floor was high or low in price alt e ther wheat was high or low in price e long as they received so much flour per bushel wo are incon tied and alieve that the recent bombina com bina tion bould make no difference in the rates foi r grinding this being the case there is no legitimate ground for compla ant from the farmers on this score tile people who are not directly interested in the raise of wheat complain that they are required to pay an high price for flour we have previously shown that this is inevitable since the price of wheat is regulated by the demand ab d but we can readily prove th athe flour is a benefit rather than a detriment to this community in the first place weber county does not consume all the 1 hat which she produces so that vh at both for exportation and home consumption becomes a matter of cash we will that this county million bushels of wheat per v ear this Is not an exact figure but it is near colpe mark with wheat at fifty cents per bushel this yield produces one quarter ofa mil lion dollard in cash with one dollar per bushel thid pro caces daces one half million dollars in cash who gets the bereft of the extra quarter of a million dollars dol lars produced by the advance in wheat primarily the farmer burthe advantage stop there is largely sup ported by the agricultural late rests of the surrounding country this advance in tile price of wheat to every merchant increased ness to every banker increased profit to every clerk increased degand for his services to every artisan and mechanic 1 opening for his labor and so it goes we ro oll dependent upon the farmer and we should all rejoice in his prosperity we understand that there is a apprehension concerning the gri nd ing of griets by tile c mills sometime ago when the advance mills were now they produced a low grade of flour for the farmer at a rate of thirty five pounds to alo bushel of aisis waa not only expert mental but it was avowed to be temporary the phoenix mills met this rate and so it continued for A brief time but upon facilities in the advance mills they grind ing yield to thirty three pounds per bushel and tile nix allo ed unfortunately but just at the time when this now combination out int 0 effect for these reasons the farm er finds fault ith the grinding rate at the reduction hotbo trust instead of attributing it to tha ona 7 causes which would immediately have produced that on regardless gard less of the trust |
