Show A COURSE it was a gracious act 1 last night tor for tho the majority of 0 tho the chamber of commerce consolidated committee to give their votes for the acceptance of the contract for exclusive territory made by eccles and steven stevens with kith the representatives of salt lake like mr boyle vindicated his own ac c tion and eliat of the majority of his committee in ft a very gentlemanly way ile demonstrated hie his two points plainly tinly I 1 that the sub committed had exceeded its authority in making the are agreement ement il II 11 that by the new agreement ogden buffered suffered a loss of lehi and american fork to which points she had formerly enjoyed a rate in common with salt lake but he be did not charge bad faith against the subcommittee sub committee and lie did not make any charge against the new division of territory that it was unfair for fol ogden the two point points stated having been clearly establish ed it was a courteous act of mr griffin one of the majority of that consolidated committee to move an acquiescence in the contract and it was a wise act ct for hie his associates to aid in carrying the motion there could have been nothing gained by any angry effort to repudiate tho the work of the subcommittee sub committee if 0 den now enjoys all that she is entitled to certainly no one would wish to undo the contract if she docs does not enjoy this justice it would cost more than it would come como to for any revision of the matter and d so we hope ends an n affair which has been a BOU source ace of considerable comment and an annoyance noy the responsibility for much of the anger and notoriety of orthis this affair rests with the salt lake herald except for the senseless interference of that blundering sheet the matter would have been settled amicably in the tile chamber of commerce commerce without undue discussion share of tho the affair concerned ogden alone after the formal contract had been made by the subcommittee with salt lake and if it any difference existed between the general and the sub com cittee it might have been settled at home hereafter it is hoped that the tile salt lake herald will be able to confine its attention to matters in which it lias bas some proper concern |
