Show THE FUNERAL an exhibition of honor and AN IMPOSING PAGEANT alio remains of james vesloy mallis deposited in tho silent tomb yesterday afternoon tho funeral ceremonies over the remains jamea wesley millia took place aa previously stated the deceased was a knight templar of the degree odthe scottish rite almason ry consequently the funeral services were under of that ancient A party of 21 members of the M order cartic up from salt lake city en a special D R G train and were met at the depot by their masona in thia city from alic depot they marched 99 in all headed by the ogden city band to tho mortuary residence on third street the remains were then placed in the mcaree and escorted to the church of the good shepherd on the corner of fourth and main streets the following gentlemen all conductors and masons acted as pall bearers mr J wm lauder evanston thomas ogdan G A beckw iab evanston G H goble gett evanston D W babcock ogden and 7 S page ogden A multitude of spectators thronged thron ged the and the little church was crowded to utmost capacity hile the episcopal burial service over the remains waa beina read by the reverend samuel at the close of the services the corpse was replaced id tho hearse the procession formed reformed re and in arched up fourtly street to main whence the journey to mountain view cemetery was continued the procession was an imposing spectacle and was the largest of its kind ever witnessed in the junction city there were sixty vehicles following the hearse j on arriving at eighth street the band the knights templar and some of the masons were provided with conveyances the distance to the cemetery being too great for a march the whole of the way after entering the sacred enalo sure waa formed again and the march to the grave commenced the last resting place of J W is on knoll near the northwestern corner of the cemetery close to where alie ornamental waters will be when this city of the dead is improved and beautified according to plans the band played the dead march on the way to the grave and on arriving the knights templar formed a square and the impressive funeral rites of the organization of which air millis was a member were performed the accord of the departed knight was read and his mortal remains committed to the dust the grief stricken wife and relatives of the deceased took one last fond look at the place where he now reposes and workmen who were waiting com fenced to build in the narrow bault with brick the procession returned to town and thus ended the last token of respect to an honored member of a powerful bation |
