Show TO THE PEN white released Ke leased ant bohu Conuel lj lias to charles white and john connelly whose thirty days extra time in the pen had expired came before commissioner mckay yesterday to be examined as to their property qualifications previous to signing the oath and obtaining their discharge from the salt lake herald we learn that white answered all the questions easily he had no property whatever over the value of 20 exempt from execution and signing the oath he was released mr dickson plied connelly with every conceivable question and elicited the fact that he had once been possessed of worth of real estate in the eighth ward but that he had deeded it equally to his two wives in may 1885 about six weeks previous to the finding of the indictment the consideration he said was 1 and the love and affection he bore his wives there was no understands ing he said that he was to be sup ported off the proper furnished a living after he had deeded the property to his wives the first one conducting the store business he bed carried on be went to work as her employee instead of master and per month for his services he paid her 5 a week he said for his board aud lodging mr dickson looked intimated that he had no more questions to ask commissioner mckay however who was not satisfied as to the transfer of the property notwithstanding that the deeds show it took place one month and twenty days prior to the findt ing of the indictment and he refused to allow mr connelly to sign the oath the gentleman therefore passed another night in the peni tertiary tent iary powerless as he claims to liquidate the amount for which he is held and cost the matter will in all probability come before judge zane to day on a writ habeas of corpus legrande young and bleeks howlins having taken it up |
