aupied tho chair after the usual opening exercises the minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved iffA young represented that they had taken out a license for tarco months for alie skating rink but as their lease has expired they had only used a portion of said license and they asked that the amount representing the unused time be refunded which amounts to 2260 tho license for the tarco mouths amounts to the recorder explained that when tho license was obtained shurtliff young understood that the unused portion of the license was to be refunded as according to the ordinances a license could not be issued for less than three months tho petition was granted D daltha asked for further time in which to pay for a city lot the interest on his account is paid to may 1885 and the committee on streets reported on the petition of P at kiesch and others to open a street over tho bench to the mouth of ogden canyon they had examined the route and found that the expense to the city would not be much outside of purchasing the land that would be necessary The petition stated the county was ready to do its part of the work but in conversation with judge shurtliff he had eaid the county was in no condition at present to go on with the work the committee reco mended that a survey bo made the report was accepted and the recommendation adopted the petition of W P hart and mothr residents in the vicinity of seventh street near young and received their attention they found the lota very wet and recommended that a ditch bo as asked for to take off the auter the committee were given further time to prepare u report of the cost of construction of said ditch alie bridges have been repaired and strengthened as far as practicable the weber bridge will need further attention as what had been done in borrowing money for tho city at a lower rate of interest had been obtained of the deseret bank of salt lake city at 8 per cent and of the first national bank of ogdan at the same rate the city has the privilege of paying sums of 2500 at the end of every quarter thus decreasing the about of interest A note of had been executed to the deseret bank for one year and one of to the first nas dional for six months the recorder reported a claim of about nine dollars which the deseret bank had against the city in connection with this business there waa con sider ablo discussion over it and the matter was finally referred to the committee on finance for investigation vesti gation miscellaneous the city attorney read three ordinances which lie had prepared one of them is an ordinance to reenact alie city ordinance against gambling a recent change in the territorial laws having made it possible for the city to handle this subject the second is an ordinance prepared to meet the require ments of the meat peddling ques tion and the third is in relation to keeping pigs being a requirement that all hog pens shall be situated a certain distance from dwelling houses so as to prevent as far as possible the outbreak of epidemics and the like on motion of mr it waa decided to hold a to consider these ordinates ordin aces at four next friday the reports of the expenditures of the street supervisor and the superintendent of water works was read the special committee who went to salt lake city to make inquiries in regard to obtaining the money for the city at a cheaper rate of interest as previously referred to were reimbursed for their expenses the contract between the elec trie light go and ogden city was read and ordered to be signed by the mayor the recorder
