Mr. Howell, had his attention called call-ed to the above anonymous letters, , and said: "I never wrote or caused to be written writ-ten these letters. Such a thought never occurred to me. I bear Mr. Henderson Hen-derson no 111 will. He has acted in this matter, as ho hod a right to act. I have not the slightest idea, who wrot tbe6e letters. Whoever he la, he can be no friend of mine. BLACK HAND LETTERS IN OGDEN Judging from letters received within with-in the last, few days by Jud?e H. II. Henderson, Black Hand Is casting its shadow tipon the wall. Mr. Henderson is at a loss to know who the party or parties are, nor cart he understand the reason for the communications. The letters are all written In lead pencil and. apparently, hi the sauibe hand. Thi letter bearing the earliest date was enclosed lu a large, official size, plain envelope, the address being written In ink, the other two were enclosed in envelopes tearing the firm name of Last & Thomas and Drowning Brothers of tills city. Ono of theso letters was written on a tel- egratn blank of the Wcptern Union and the other on a blank piece of account ac-count aer. , The letter bearinjr the Salt. Ike ostofflee mark of January , 1910, reads as follows: "Henderson: Let up on Bill Howell. How-ell. Drop your work against him. You shall never prosucute Bill. Heed this warning If you place any value on your life. Don't let this reach the. papers. Thla la for YOU, not for the public "Word to the Wise, etc." The second letter received bv Mr. Hendorfon bore the Oglcn postmark of January Cth. 1910. It was written on the blajik form of teleirram of tbe Western I'nlon Telegraph Co., and was enclosed In a small-slwd envelope, hearing the n&me of the bu4ns firm of La.it & Thomas. It reads: "H. H. Henderson: Let up on Bill Howell. You will pas In your checks unless jon do, damn quick." This lettor boro no signature. Thu third letter was enclosed In a small c-iiTeiope containing tho name of the firm of Browning Brothers and was, written upon a plaoe of paper torn from a larce-slzed account book.
