Show DUTCH PECPLE MAY MIGRATE TO ZIOH Within a few days there will arrive In Salt Lako City two prominent financiers finan-ciers and bankers from Amsterdam, Holland. They aro Arlo Colyn, Jr.. and Martyn Sanders, and thoy are now In New- York. The object of their visit Is to make an Inspection of aeveral western states with a view of establishing estab-lishing a Dutch colouy In ono of them. Once a sultablo site for the colony Is found, a tract of land will be bought and tho final arrangements for tho coming of the immigrants will be made. Their project Is a philanthropic one, but they hope to establish a colony which will not only be Belf-supportlng from the start, but will enable Dutch colonists eventually to become rich. In round numbers 1,000 men. women and children will make up tho first party uf Immigrants. They will be followed by others. Tho Dutch are chiefly farmers an I laborers, but they are thrifty and hard working and make gewd citizens. Will Visit Utah. A special from Now York Sunday night gives a brief Interview with Mr. Colyn, who Is at tho Broadway Central hotel in New York. Says Mr. Colyn; "We may go to Canada after visiting visit-ing the American states, for wo want to be sure of getting a site that will 6ult all. We have derided to go first to Minnesota, where I understand there is a big Scandinavian colony. Then we shall go Into North and South Dakota, and Into Wyoming, Colorado and Utah. I am under the Impression that Utah would Dot be a good state for farming, but we ehall lnsjmct them all. Then we are going to California and north along the coast to Oregon and Washington. Thence we shall go Into Canada, probably as fur as Winnipeg." |
