Mr. Carlson, in fitting words gave ' " -" " T a brief .resume of this country when . the different wars were declared, and " t . in an eloquent flow of language told how necessary it was for this peace-''T. peace-''T. . loving country to be prepared. j - The opening numbers of the program pro-gram were furnished by the Utah .. : Copper band, who, under the able leadership of Professor Johnson gave ' several clever renditions. ,- ... Irwin Jensen, head of Music at the - . Bingham Schools, sang a solo, "In- - .-victus," in a pleasing manner, Miss Velma Hey wood playing the accompaniment accom-paniment on the piano. ' After Mr. Carlson's powerful ad-: ad-: dress, the band again played a well i prepared selection. Miss Velma Heywood then held the gathering spellbound with a beautiful " " violin solo, "Meditation" from Thais, ' by Massanet. Her encore number, t "Gavotte Rococo, by Hatsche, was ' ' - well given. Mr. Jensen was the accompanist ac-companist for the two numbers. Miss Aliceile Higgs, teacher of dra- . imatic Art at the Bingham schools, ..gave a clever reading, "The Volunteer," Volun-teer," in a manner that brought forth much applause.'
