Show FIVE DOLLAR FINE FOR : KING HE CHASED A GIRL THROUGH THE ALLEY. i She Was in Court to See Her Assail-) ant Sentenced for Life Owner of a Team Fined $5. . , Police court, today, included a number num-ber of cases of drunkenness and disorderly dis-orderly conduct. Many of the defendants, de-fendants, however, did not appear, evl-' dently preferring to forfeit their ball rather than face the court and explain the various matters Involved. Only one disturber of the peace made an appearance. This was J. King, and a buxom young girl from ' the restricted, district was on hand and eager to see that he "got his" as she expressed it. The sad-eyed King, however, was in anything but a defensive de-fensive mood and entered a plea of guilty without hesitation. The court Imposed a fine of ?5 or five days on the rock pile and the expectant and revengeful complainant "was noticeably notice-ably disappointed, having apparently expected that the man would get at least a life sentence. King was one of three who met Ihe complainant, "Jane Doe," in a dark portion of the Alley, Saturday night, and took the Initiative-In pursuing her madly about the district, frightening her out of her wits and inbulng her with the idea that she was about to be held up or otherwise mistreated. William Leahy and Dan Tracey were charged with drunkenness anil pleaded guilty, receiving the customary custo-mary fine of $5 or five days each. The men .were anxious to explain their short-comings but the court was not In a receptive mood and waved them away to the corridors beyond. John Morelli was charged with violating vio-lating the bicycle ordinance but did not put in an appearance. His bail of $5 was declared forfeited. F. James was charged with a similar offense but the case was ordered continued owing to the ab&ence of the defendant as well as his deposit for ball. Harry Hart, Frank Catelleno and Henry Toleman were charged with disturbing the peace and forfeited bail to the amount of $5 each, by not appearing ap-pearing in court. Bert Saxley forfeited $5 for leaving his team standing unhitched upon the street B. F. Classen and "j. Doe" forfeited $5 each on a charge of drunkenness, neither defendant being present S. F. Wrenn forfeited bail to the amount of $5 on the charge of disturbing disturb-ing the peace. So did Austin Carter and Roy Clark on a similar charge. |
