Show ARRESTED YOUNG GIRLS TWO YOUNG WOMEN TAKEN TO POLICE STATION. Will Be Held There Pending Investigation Investi-gation of Past Conduct and Until They Show Signs of Penitence. Two young girls wero arrested by the officers and taken to the station, I where they will remain until such i time as it Is thought they have made up their minds to mend their ways. If they do not show a disposition to be better girls, Chief Drowning states, that charges will be preferred against them and they will be called upon to stand trial. The officers state that the girls have been away from their homes tor the past week, during which time they have been keeping questionable company com-pany and lodging at rooming houses of the town. Chief Drowning stated to the Examiner representative last night that he Is determined to stop the Improper conduct of certain 'young women wo-men on the streets at night, and that If they do not desist he will prefer serious charges against them. i Tho two young girls arrested last evening will be required to give a thorough explanation of their conduct con-duct during the past week, and If it is not perfectly satisfactory to the officers of-ficers they will be required to stand trial upon a criminal charge, and If found guilty, serve a term in the bas-tlle. bas-tlle. The girls are residents or the city and their parents have been very much worried about them for a number num-ber of days, according to the statements state-ments of the officers. Their names are withheld at the request of Chief Browning. |
