Lake and a companion, Arthur IRandolph. were hunting deer In the 'Knox section Randolph did not gc out on morning, but Lake followed 'a bunch of deer several miles He was then caught In a snowstorm and lost his sense of direction at 'h mouth of Buckhorn creek on the south fork tof tho Salmon, and started In the opposite op-posite direction. The first night Lake built a fire on the hanks of the Little Salmon, thinking It might he seen by forest rangers. The next day he reached Se-cesh Se-cesh creek, and then walked west and south until two days later he reached McCall. He had wandered more than 100 miles over rough country in the four days |
