The horse bears the burnt of this negligence and tbe delivery man, to keep up with bis work, uses the whip more than he would if the woman would be more thoughful. The same thing is true of coal deliveries. Many persons wait until the last shovelful of coal is used and then telephone in a rush order to tbe dealer. Generally this comes on a cold, raw day for then tbe coal is moit urgently needed. As a consequence the horses again get the would do this, more mercy would be shown animals. , The new bait Lake Society for tbe Prevention of Curelty to Animals Is doing good work, but needs more money with which to tarry on its campaign for mercy. All who wish to help can do so by sending in contributions to Mrs. A. D. Ratnel, secretary, at 323 D. F. Walker block, or to Mrs. Charles T. Murphy, 827 Sixth avenue, who is treasurer of the organization. Telegram. FOR , APPOINTMENTS FEBRUARY,. 111. MISSIONARY N clcff, (2 v. m.) Feb. 2& W. H. Branch, Bullock. Albert Chess Feb. 2- 6- J.
