The property with the exception of the 12 fifty-gallon barrels was taken to police headquarters In two truce loads. Franklin could not be located by the police. Ills attorney called at police headquarters this morning and arranged ar-ranged to put un $300 bail for the appearance ap-pearance of Franklin In court. Detectives C. E. LADDER TO ATTIC Behind the blind doorway was found a narrow passageway leading by way of a ladder to the attic of the house. The police demolished the barrels being unable to get them out of the attic without cutlng a hole In the roof A portion of a still was also found in the attic. According to the police complaints have been received from that section from residents to the effect that during dur-ing certain portions of the month the atmosphere was permeated with the stench of sour mash Suspicion was directed to Franklin's house by the number of complaints from residents In that section who told the police that automobiles stopped stop-ped at all hours in front of Franklin's Frank-lin's house. It Is understood that Franklin will be arraigned In the near futuro before CitJ Judge D. R. Roberts to answer a harge of having liquor in his possession. pos-session. oo |
