Show DOMINIC TAPPERO i Dominic Tappero, "our Tap," is gone, and with him went one of the finest lads who ever claimed Bingham Canyon as his home. On Friday of last week gloom was cast over the town of Bingham Canyon when word was received from Great Falls, Montana, that "Tap" had passed away, as the result of injuries received while following fol-lowing his profession as boxer, in a contest with Billy De Foe of New York, as the main attraction of a Labor Day celebration. With the snuffing out of such a young life, a life full of vim and health, one's thoughts turn to that Infinite Being, who in His wisdom does all for the best, and although we, of common clay fail to realize the motive of His actions, consolation is offered in the knowledge that "His will be done." Tappero received his education at the local schools, and after turning to the fistic arena, became one of the most popular young men of the camp, not because he followed boxing, but because he was "clean"; clean to the core, always willing to help others, never stopping at duty, and always remembering the adage that it is better bet-ter to have ten friends than one enemy. Always a gentleman, he became the idol of Bingham Canyon, a friend of all. While following his chosen profession in Salt Lake City, he was always popular, because of his willingness to do the right. Never has it been said of "Tap" that he ever allowed anything any-thing to come before his principle to give the best, and do his best. Words of comfort to the bereaved parents cannot stop the pains of anguish and the heartache that must be theirs, but there is solace in the thought that "their son" lived his life in a pure, wholesome manner, and when the Angel of Death takes a loved one from us, isn't there consolation in knowing that we did our best, that when it is all said and done, parents at the best feel their life was not in vain when their offspring have grown to be good men and good women, when a son is clean, both morally and physically. Just such a son was Dominic Tappero. |
