Mighty wind and snow storms rage on the peak, adding to the dlffi- cultles of those attempting to get even j near the top. The failure of Mallory, Summer- ville and Norton to go beyond 26.S00. ! after two years of preparation and with all possible camp equipment, in- j eluding oxygen gas, may end the venture ven-ture and leavo the peak of Mount Everest a challenge to man.
