Karpoff, member of the supreme economic council of soviet Russia, is quoted in a Berlin dis-; patch to the Exchange Telegraph here, received by way oi Paris today. The supreme council in Moscow contains no person named Karpoff, which is an old pseudonj m of Nikolai Lenirte, the soviet premier. Some of his publications bear that name The Jewish news bureau, a New York City news agency, on January 9 announced receipt of a dupaixh from its Moscow correspondent, telling of the dangerous illness of Lenine. NEW YORK, Jan. 13 Officials of the Russian soviet bureau here oaid today that M. KarpofT, member of the supreme economic council of Russia, who was reported dead in a London dispatch, was unknown to them. They also declared that Premier Lenine, to their knowledge, was nevei known as "M. KarpofT," nor had he written books under that name. |
