Jan. 11 That Dt H Smith Woolley came to his death from gunshot wounds, tho source of which Is unknown, was the verdict returned by a coroner's Jury yesterday after ten witnesses had been examined. Tho physician's body was found In his office chair with two bullet bul-let holes through the cheot- The finding ot five cartridge shells on the floor when only two wounds were In the body with the bullets ranging downward and to the right of the body constituted the main evidence evi-dence in the case that the wounds wen- not self-inflicted The testimony af nrl Valentine, president of the First National bank, who knew the business affairs of Dr. Woolley perhaps better than anyone, was that there were no financial reasons rea-sons for self-destruction. Mr. Valentine Val-entine staled that the three firms to whom the doctor ow-ed money hnd not made requests for money and that the doctor enjoyed a good practice, and that he had been ot a Jolly disposition dis-position the last several days. The death of tho physician la a mystery to tho citizens of Pocatello. and perhaps will never be solved satisfactorily. |
