Show welcome home rome EDITOR 11 HERALD ERALD Perli perhaps als there is no greater joy than in the reunion of dear ones after a separation of two years or more however it appeared so to me ou monday evening april you are aware no doubt that two of our much respected citizens and friends elders henry li manning lanning and william garner have returned from a mission to gread Brit britain aiu many of their friends called upon them at tho the residence of the former to have a friendly shake of the liand land and bid them welcome prominent among their friends were the tile brass bands of west weber and this place both bands united as one and marched to the front oi of brother mannings residence placing playing quick step when out cariie caine our worthies on the double quick step then followed hand shaking md and words of welcome and pleasure were exchanged after some more lively t tunes unes were disi dis coursed wo we were invited within then one tune followed another un til tit the amateurs of hooper had exhausted their tunes at command but on oil kept our neighboring band with cast iron lips I 1 do not know how long they could have given us something new nev had our hosts not invited us to supper to kiev view tho the table or the load upon it one would think that forty cooks had been trying to excel each other in tho the useful bot ful art Ilo however wever sister manning ning knows how it is done tho the evening was spent in jovial chat music both vocal and ins trumen tal tat until every heart was filled with joy for you ou may know the two comice of the west wm win tun and robt cox were there the tire position po ot of the clock lingers fingers told ui u to bid our hale and hearty libart good night so now mr editor please join w us in their welcome h home rue 0 hooper april 1881 |
