committee re tive to the petition of alexander for change mending llie the granting grunting of the petition report accepted mr briarton submitted a report frum from tho the committee on oln I 1 abric agric agriculture V I 1 iture relative rela tiye to the petition petit iun ot of J jensen and othera others relating to sheep herds and recommending that tho the tallie bo be referred to the committee on judiciary report adopted H F no 0 5 a bill to change the name of alexander hedquist was introduced and passed its nral first and second reading and placed on file council F no 8 for a joint committee on university lands was called up and adopted and tho the chair appointed creer morgan and cu cummings to represent rep the house on oil said committee mr thurman moved to consider the report of the judiciary committee relative to the petition of alexander hedquist for change of name loat the ayes and nays were called for resulting in 8 ayes and 14 nays tho the minutes of january were read A letter was read from the territorial auditor returning the financial reports of the county clerks he lie did not think it was meant in the act of the last legislature saying he lie should audit these accounts that ho lie should travel to he the various counties to do this but simply to accept tho the reports of the clerks and see that they were correct mr hatch spoke a ok 0 o ou on the question that if t the c auditor was not able to attend to hia his business tio he 1 should resign mr francis eaid said he understood it was tho the duty of the auditor to ex oivino aa tha tho report nt Goun ty clerks and see if they correspond with tho the law the committee expected the auditor to at least lea a t examine the reports and certify to their correctness which lie has not I 1 done mr pecry peery called for the reading of the letter again and then eaid said that it was not satisfactory at all the auditor gets well paid for hia his services and turning to the journal mr peery read
