Show 0 CITY COUNCIL MINUTES the city council met in the city cit hall july 14 1882 mayor L Y J herrick presiding ding minutes C I 1 of former meeting were read and approved through alderman stanford P J barratt complained of the noisome effluvia arising from the occasional embalming at a building on main street athe of the bodies of persons in in course of transportation for burial by their friends at distant points and asked that the matter be so regulated that no danger to the public health might be apprehended referred to tho the committee on oil sanitary regulations petition ot of the ogden brass band for tho the free use of lester park and its pavilion on the of july for a public entertainment was granted the committee on public borka reported that the fence around lester park would shortly bo be commenced and would be five fly e feet high substantial and neat report accepted the tile committee on streets reported that the had completed the labor of changing the channel of the waste sect on eighth street from the side to 0 the center of tho the street at a cost of about the street supervisor had bad been repairing the principal streets and making a culvert on second street just ut cast of main he ile would shortly short y commence excavating for the pipes 1 to convey water to a drinking fountain on the 0 east side of lester park other improvements prove ments wern contemplated at an emily early da day report accepted the tile committee on public buildings reported that the pavilion on lester park was shingled and recommended om oni mended that other needed buildings on the park be constructed report accepted and recommendation adopted the building committee recommended that the new city jail on main street be commenced without delay that architect N C flygare be engaged to superintend its construction according to the plans lie has made and which had bad been submitted t tc and approved by the council report accepted recommendation adopted the special committee to whom at a former meeting was referred the matter of f selling tho tile northeast quarter of block 18 plat A ogden city survey having a frontage of ft on main alain street and ft on fifth F fifth street recommended the said land be sold and that the tile committee on public grounds be instructed to fix the price for the same and report at the next meeting report re port accepted an and recommendation da t adopted the tile auditor and the tile treasurer presented their respective reports I 1 for or the quarter ending june which were read and referred to the committee on finance bills for public labor were allowed the council adjourned to meet in the ci city hall july 1882 it at 2 |
