Show OGDEN B R through courtesy of jos A west E esq sq wo we have been permitted to inspect a copy of the map of the first twenty mile section of tho ogden wyoming II 11 R projected to extend from this city to the slam main moth coal fields in wyoming territory tho the map i is a fine work of drafts draNn mans ians skill and does credit to the ability of mr west who is chief engineer en gi neer of the company and under whose supervision the survey of tho the first twenty mile sa section was made this initial portion of tho the road starts from the center of first fir A street at the crossing of A the e utah northern R B R then goes in an easterly direct direction 10 nth through rough the northern portion of the city and enters ogden canyon through which it pursues a tolerably straight strai ghe ling between the mountain walls frequently crossing the labyrinthine meanderings of the river it travels the broad fields west and cast of hunts hunks aills in al almost most straight lines until it reaches south fork canyon through whose rugged ravines thep tho surveyed line wends bends ita its way until it reaches reach es the tte bluffis around tracy f mill where just at the eastern e extremity X of tho the section a reservation is designated and set aside for depot purposes although as is seen from the sketch the line traverses a mountain region a superior location has been secured involving comparatively ively light grades easy curvature and cheap work with the exception of the first mile or two in ogden canyon the cost of construction will be far below the average for mountain railroads mr west has accomplished his portion of the great work with credit to himself and antl advantage to the tile company the result results of his labors as embodied in the maps of the surveys were approved and adopted by the board of directors on the of march as the definite line of location odthe of the route of said co company in s road between ogden city and beaver canyon the sk W R R co have secured legal title to the right odway of way through ogden and southfork south fork Tork canyons and they contemplate pushing the survey forward toward the ultimate destination as fast as circumstances cum curn stances admit they are well situated financially having sufficient funds on liand hand to prosecute the work at the eastern terminus of the section many and promising indications of coal deposits have been discovered and prospectors are still tapping the sides of the everlasting hills to strike more extensive beds somewhat to the southeast of the proposed depot reservation are tho the well known coal mines of lost creole creek with which the W R R co intend putting themselves in communication to facilitate the utilization of those valuable fossil fuel finds in ill fact it is expected that deposits of the carbonaceous commodity will be met with at every step of progress all of which will contribute to enhance the value of tho the enterprise but another important factor among the benefits which the new road will confer upon ogden city ia is the connection furnished by it with the rich and constantly growing giving communities of bear lake valley which nor now U uso S evanston as their principal base of supplies while the new road will make them BO so to speak tributary to tho the vastly superior commercial houses of the junction city the trade of bear lake and the surrounding northeastern country is an item wort worthy hy of the consideration and tangible appreciation of our business men the road also traverses one of the most plentiful timber districts of tho the intermountain region and in this manner also will add to the development and prosperity of ogden city and weber county taking in view all these advantages increase of trade for our business men more timber for our builders and cheaper coal for the whole community nobody can call lie help p wishing that the line of tho the W R R will soon not only run over the white of the map but also over tho the green fields field through the dense forests and to the black coal beds of our north easte rn neighborhood A LONDON DISPATCH intimates that sarah
