Show A troop of tramps for ft a number of days lays past there have been many petty larcenies larce nies committed and attempts at house brea breaking k ing some terno have been successful an and d some have been foiled on oil katurd saturday nayl night t at the railroad depot deya doya pa a U ya N car was broken into a box containing boots was opened and eleven paira pairs of new boots were stolen from it other cars had been previously entered and other goods abstracted quite a number of tramps have infested the neighborhood of the railroad depots and andl suspicion on fal ling on oil some of them a decoy cc y was sent out to reconnoiter he 11 e visited ia cited a OL large number of them who were encamped in the willows on the north side of the ogden river and on the cast side C P railroad track the decoy discovered some decof castoff cast off old shoes lying ying around I and some new boots on the feet of some of the tramps he ile returned and reported what lie had seen last night W 11 P st clair E esq s agent of the U P railroad took too I half a dozen men including officer john Pin cook well armed and we went it to g the earn camp p oil the tramp tramps which was located in h i thicket of willows in the place above indicated where he lie Fur surrounded rounded surprised and took thirteen of the vagrants and marched them to town there they were delivered to the proper police authorities and lodged in in the jail beneath the court honec this afternoon they were brought before justice middleton and arraigned faired on a charge of vagrancy A AU pleaded leaded not guilty but two the prosecuting prosecuting attorney not being fully prepared for trial in consequence of the absence of witnesses the examination waa was continued until tomorrow to morrow morning at eleven |
