Show U N R R work rapidly progressing on the yarrow narrow gauge this the longest narrow gaego of th the e country 13 is steadily pushing g forward into the northern country its success is a as S well assured as its progress is unremitting from front hon samuel word attorney of the road the helena independent learns tho following interesting particulars concerning its advance and goal the original purpose of the road managers was to run from dillon to H helena clena but as the expense of securing the right of way w ay from dillon on to twin win bridges would be considerable sid erable the diversion towards helena was made from glen on the big hole river which is some ten or twelve miles nearer twin bridges than dillon tho the road will follow down the big hole botwin to twin bridges thence down the ri right bank of the Jefre jerrerson to gallatin city at or near which boint point it will cross and follow aroun around the missouri river to bedford several companies are engaged in grading rading g on the line between glen and bedford and the difficult grading will all bo be done by winter mr word thinks the track will bo be laid to bedford next summer and fall and probably to helena file company will have an ample amplo supply of iron on oil hand land next season to lay jay track as fast as ns the grading is completed on the butte line tho passenger as well as freight trains commenced ommen ced running to silver bow on oil monday last and the road is now being rapidly constructed from thence to butte before winter sets in tho the cars will be running to silver city next summer the road will be extended tended down the valley to deer lod lodge c and perhaps further west timberlands timber lands in the vicinity of missoula arc are reached it is evident that two or three years will witness railroads penetrating pen all portions of montana and without costing the people of the territory ono one dollar in the tile way of subsidies in two years helena will have two railroads the northern pacific and utah northern competing for her trade and laying down at tier her doors doom the products of the east and west at rates much lower than tho the people have ever known or perhaps dreamed of in the p past ast |
