Show rescued from brora the surf by hia his daughter an elderly gentleman and his daughter residents of an interior town in pennsylvania came to atlantie atlantic city a f few ew days ago and feeling that a hotel where they could enjoy the sight of the ocean from the house as well as enjoy ita its cooling breezes and engage ir in boating and fishing as well as bathing would add to their enjoyment engaged rooms at the new inlet house saturday morning they started out for a bath the old gentleman was feeling poorly and did not care to go in in the surf where the breakers were rolling heavily they procured bathing suits near Massac massachusetts huset esav avenue en ue and walked down to a point near the hotel between the inlet pier and the lighthouse 11 li here the water appeared eg to bo be calm and the surf looked pleasant and safe this however lio wever is not the bathing ground and while apparently smooth and calm is the entrance to the inlet and the shilling bar makes the spot a trencher treacherous one and not desirable for bathing purposes they entered the water and the young lady who is an expert swimmer in fact a graduate of the well known natatorium cn en joyed her plunge in the surf hugely she paddled around her father and both felt that they must leave the water and the girl said pop ill swim swim out a few yards and return to you she accordingly dashed out a few yards and on her return was surprised to find her father was nowhere to be seen As she looked around for liim him she suddenly saw him floating face downward some distance from the shore swimming rapidly toward him she seized hig his inanimate form and drew him ashore alone and unaided she drew him on the beach and then her natatorium education came in in play and by means of her acquired knowledge she was able to restore him to consciousness and lie was presently resent ly able to return to the bath eath house where they both exchanged their clothing and returned to the new inlet house at tho the personal personal request of the young lady her er name and that of her father are suppressed atlantic city review |
