| Show TAXPAYERS MEETING sale of the old second district school house decided upon As per notice given for some time past a meeting of tho taxpayers of the district ccok at the court house last evening the trustees staled the object of tho meeting which among other things was to consider the propriety of disposing of the old second district school house it was stated bat if said schoolhouse be allowed to remain in ita present position considerable means will bo required to put it in repair if however the house bo sold and removed the money realized by alie sale would be sufficient to repair seats besides purchasing new oio aio for ohp new central house and that several hundred dollars will be saved to the district be sides there will be enough room in tho new bouie for the primary departments use fo reveral years to corn much better facilities being og ored in one of its large high ceilea rooms alian in the old ill ventilated house besides the expense of keeping up two schoolhouses when the fine new one now about ready for will for years to come be sufficient for the wants of the district will be too heavy after remarks by several taxpayers it was moved and seconded that the house be sold to the highest bidder A ballot vote decided in favor of the motion the trustees then stated they had conferred with mr david james of salt lake city in relation to giving an estimate of the cost of an apparatus on the low pressure steam byg tern for heating the new school house mr james had estimated that the apparatus would cost something like 1700 and the trustees were desirous to know if they should use the above named sum for this purpose it being explained that this method of heating was much better than the mr joseph parry had thoroughly examined this apparatus while at salt lake recent ly and recommended that it be used for heating purposes in the new house D M stuart and james horrocks had visited places in the east which were heated by this same apparatus and spoke warmly in its favor A vote was then taken which resulted in the trustees being authorized to make arrangements for the purchase of said apparatus for the purposes above mentioned there being no more business before the house the meeting was ad journea sin die |
