A committee of stato educators consisting con-sisting of newly appointed State Superintendent Sup-erintendent L,. J. Mulr, Prof. Mosiah Hall, and Assistant Superintendent E. J. Norton, has written Supt. B. A. Fowler of tho Weber county schools, asking for materials on AVeber county school work In bulletin form to distribute dis-tribute at the sessions of the N. E. A. when It meets at Salt Lake City next month. The National Educational association associa-tion brings to lt3 meetings most of tho prominent educators from all over tho United States. That these visitors may get a more concrete idea of what Utah is doing along educational lines, the state committee thought best to have some folders prepared explaining the Utah plan. Two Important features fea-tures of Utah's advance program in education are working out In Weber county most successfully. They are consolidation and the twelve-months' program just recently Installed. These two phases of work are the ones which tho committee wish written up in pamphlet form to distribute to the educators. In the request, Superintendent Mulr writes Superintendent Fowler: "Our plan In brief Is this: Each district will be asked to prepare in folder form an account of the thing or things they have been able to develop most successfully. There arc two wherein we think your district has distinguished disting-uished itself. They are: First, in Its splendid, plan and working program pro-gram carrying over twelve months with summer supervision; and, second, sec-ond, in the manner In which you have worked out consolidation of schools." The board of education authorized the superintendent to prepare material mater-ial which accurately records the story of consolidation since its inception in 1905 and also the twolvo month program pro-gram as now In operation In Weber county. The folders will bo ready for distribution by the first of July. |
