Show Record Crops Assured in Snake River Valley BU KLKY, Ida.. July &. Rccord-breAklng Rccord-breAklng crops are assured In the Snake fiver valley with tho advent of hot weather and tho passing of danger dan-ger from frost. I-xst week the natu-ial natu-ial flow of the river was relo;isod from Jackson luke. after the storage of the big reservoir had reached 603,350 acre i et. Ivist year, on tbe same date, the storage was 2y0.S10 acre-feot owing to the fact that the flow was released nearly a month earlier. Notwithstanding the fact that the Water In the lake was being used for irrigation much earlier last year. It was necessary to draw upon the storage, stor-age, much more heavily on the first of July than at present, nnd the need of a heavy flow for Irrigation wus probably prob-ably greater than it will he at any time this Season, so that the difference in the stornge at this period does not represent the total advantage In the water situation of this year over that of last year. Tlo precipitation in the watershed from which the river receives Its water was tolly 60 per cent heavier this season sea-son than last season and this year the runoff has not been nearly so fast. For this reason It Is thought that the natural flow of tho river will hold up much brtter this year than last year, and that there wt!l be no shortnge of water for irrigation In this district ihla season. |
