Show Ski Jumpers Planjiing Mid-Smmner Meeting TACOMA, Wash., March 10. -Ski jumpers of the Pacific northwest al-J ready are plamifhg for their fourth annual midsummer ski tournament to be held in the snow of Paradise va'ley, on 'Mount Rainier, June 27. Several men and women who rook honors in meets held on tire mountain in' other a'cars v,'ill onto' the coming tournament. In addition several noted Canadian ski artists have annourced they will be here. S. Johnson, who won the honors in last year's meet, is prepared to defend his title and keep his tro.phics in his Taooma home. Johnson made Jumps of 100 and 101 feet without falling. Ills feilow townsman, Kilmer Nelson, who placed second in 1919, w.ill cuter again. 1 A crack woman Jumper, Miss Olga Bolstad, who won the Rainier tournament tourna-ment championship in 1917, will trv to regain the title this year. Miss Bolstad Bol-stad is one of the few women who have placed in the events. Spectators and participants who Journey to the meeting will have to hike, or ride horseback over a portion of the road to the valley, as the snows which-block the upper mountain roads during the winter, will not be 5011c when the tournament is held. Over 1,000 Journeyed to Rainier to attend the tourney last year. Many ai-2 expected from Seattle, Portland ami other Pacific northwest cities. The moot will be held under the auspices of the Ncxth-west Ski Hub. |
