Show Jack Dempsey May ; Have New Manager For Future Events NEW YORK, Oct 9 It is stated on j pretty good authority that when Jack Dempsey decides to defend his heavyweight heavy-weight championship boxing crown, i n I. curley, promoter of innumerable I boxing and wrestling spectacles, will I be the man behind that match. Jusi at present Curley is covering a lot of western terrltoiv showing off a tew almost wrestlers, but he is ready to drop the toe grippers at a moment's notice, provided Dempsey expresses a willingness to talk business I Dempsey's theatrical ventures are reported to have been financial failures fail-ures and that the champion has not drawn down anything like the money Ihe expected when he dethroned Jess Willard last July. Now Dempsey is to finish an unprofitable season with a circus. From the plans now arranged, Dempsey will climb through the ropes again about December 1 and will be opposed bj Willie Meehan, the Frisco tat man, whose claim to distinction is built upon two four-round decisions gained in battles with Dempsi j fought in San Francisco. This at fair is to be held iti the First regiment armory of Newark and win be eighl rounds with no decision given at the linlsh. For these eight rounds Dempsev is to receive almost $50,000. or considerably more than any other has been paid tor an affair limited to so few rounds. Meehan will be fighting for a small percentage of the house. The Meehan fight is the first or a series of contests con-tests which Dempsey will enter into, all leading up to a grand finale In which Dempsey and the leading L'uio-pean L'uio-pean heavyweight candidate will be pitted against each other in a 20-round bout for the laurels.
