Show ITHI ATHLETES WILL CLASH IN BIG STATE MEET Track and field stars of Utah will compete In what gives promise of being be-ing the greatest track and field meet ever held in the state at the state fair grounds at Snlt Lake City. October 9. The meet will be held under the auspices aus-pices of the stale of Utah and will be ior service men only. Plans are be-1 be-1 mg completed by the general commit -itee and it is expected that at least 'one hundred athletic stars will take part In ihe carnival. Some ot the best track men in the rest hail from LTtah and some of Utah's best bets have won national 1 nles on several occasions. With the holding of the meet in October, Utah -port followers will have a chance to see the best in the state in harness in the great program that has been arranged. ar-ranged. The program will include the 100. 220 and 140 yard dashes; the 880 and mile runs, hurdle races, sack races, and relay races and the broad jump, high jump, discus throw, shot put. jaelin throw, pole vault and grenade throwing Gold medals for first place winners, silver medals for winners of second place and bronz medals for third place winners will bo awarded by the state. Bert Brown, Lee Richards, Clare Bramwell and Ralph Fuller are the men that are expected to wear the local colors in the meel All of these men are stars of the first order.
