Show Championship Swimming Contests For Girls Next Week DEL MONTE. Cal.. July 12 The Parlfic association of A. A. U. has 'given Its sanction and has set the dates of July IK. 19 and 20 for the annual an-nual Del Monte Girls' swimming championship. cham-pionship. The races on the first two days of the meet will be held in the Open-Air Roman plunge. The scene of the final races will be in the enclosed bathhouse bath-house at Del Monte Beach. The Roman Ro-man plunge Is set among giant trees with lawns all around, and a sun porch and dressing rooms surrounded by flower beds. The events are: 50 yard dash; 200 yard handicap; free stroke; 100 yard dash; 50 yard breast stroke; f00 yard handicap; free stroke; medley race (to take in tho different styles of swimming); diving. The star girl swimmers of California Califor-nia will be among the contestants. Mrs Prances 1 uwells Schroth, holder of a number of Pacific coast records, 1- one of the entries. She Is in train-in;; train-in;; and will go after several of her existing marks Dorothy Burns, an other mermaid, Is expected to com- pete An effort will be made to have Claire Galilean Finney enter the Competition. Mrs. Finney (s one of the foremost swimmers of America Sh'- recently moved from the Elasl to Los Angeles and had announced her retirement .Mrs Finney has recon sidered, however, and there Is talk of Iter engaging in competition again. Among others who are expected to answer the starter's .signal are Mrs. Terrle Desch, Miss Llla Dunkum, MISS Mable Green Miss Ruth Crane, Miss Helen Martin, Miss Gladys Bohin r.
