Show KING ALBERT WORSHIPS IN INDIANCHURGH ALBUQUERQUE. N M Ocl 19 The Belgian monarchs worshipped today to-day for the third time in the United States at the quaint Italian church which has stood for three centuries on what is now the Pueblo Indian reset vation at Isleta, 1.1 miles from Albuquerque. A venerable Spanish prtesl celebrated the benediction with the king, queen and Prince Leopold In the Banctuary with Gov Larrazola and his wife The priest, who spoke French fluently, welcomed the Belgians to (he ancient edifice which stands tod.r aa it did when it was built nlthougn P was manv times captured by the In-Idians In-Idians and then retaken by the Spin I iards. One of the priests was an Indian In-dian and the choir was composed of Indians. After the service the visitors were treated to a real western show. Pic-turesque Pic-turesque Indians danced their native dances, while cowboys and COWgillfl gave xhibitions in horsemanship One of the features was a horseback quadrille quad-rille and another was the mastery of breaking broncos. O A Larrazolo. Following Introductions the governor, in s few well chosen words, presented his majesty with a beautiful and unique souvenir as a memento of his visit to New Mexico consisting of a pouch made of deerskin in which was placed a portfolio of thirty photo graphs of New Mexico scenery and scenes. The pouch is made in primitive primi-tive Indian style by Indian workmen I and is handsomely illumined in red, yellow and green tints. On the front cover of the portfolio Is a photograph of Gov Larrazolo and his two daughters. The royal party was taken to and from Isleta in automobiles The special spe-cial train left here at 6.45 p m. for the east. nn |
