Mr. Wilson is expected to receive abroad a reception sucli as has been accorded but few men in public life'. He will be welcomed not only as the president of the United States, and the commander-in-chief of its armies and navy, but also as the champion of world democracy. In visiting Europe the president will establish two precedents. Ho will be the first chief executive of the United States to participate in a peace conference con-ference for tho settling of issues growing grow-ing out of a Avar in which this country participated, and likewise he will be the first president to leave North America during his term of office. In reaching his decision to attend the peace conference, President Wilson Wil-son is understood to have been large-j ly influenced by representations from Premiers" Lloyd George of Great Britain Bri-tain and Clemenceau of France and other statesmen of the entente countries. |
