Show jiRLB's mm NEW YORK, Dec. lOOn the bolter trade outlook industrials, including 1 former Avar issues, featured today's 1 broad stock market with shippings and f motors at gains of 2 to 7 points. Sales approximated 600,000 shares. 1 The stock market was visibly in- i jfluenced at the opening of today's p ' trading by tho optimistic views of S Chairman Gary, of the United States Steel corporation regarding future in- dustrial conditions. Steels, equip- p ments, shippings, oils and specialties 8 scored gains varying from large frac- tions to IV2 points but rails were less responsive. Later tobaccos and mo- tors were added to the list of strong and active Issues. Liberty bonds con- tinued heavy, however, tho fourth 4Vts making a new minimum of 95.62. 1 Advances of the first half hour were jj abruptly halted by reactions of 1 to 8 2 points in Crucible Steel. Studebaker, I Industrial Alcohol and Mexican Pe- troleum, the latter losing ground on reports of a severance of relations of 1 American oil companies with the Mex- ican government. Other leaders yield- 1 ed moderately, but losses were bal- anced by tho further strength of ship- pings, motors, American Car, Railway Steel Springs, Beet Sugar, distillers, International Nickel and Wilson Pack- ing. Rails remained irregular and United States Steel eased fractionally. Shippings, equipments and motors led the broader market at midday, At- lantic Gulf, United Fruit, Pressed Steel Car, General Motors and Stutz 1 Motors, showing extreme advances of a 2 to 3V points. Texas company ral- ff lied the oils, but United States Steel and rails were little changed. 1 Final prices on Liberty bonds were: I ZMs 97.50; first convertible 4s 93.20; I second 4s 93.00; first convertible 4 Vis I 97.30; socond convertible 4 Vis 95.S8; fa third 4Vis 95.90; fourth 4Vls 95.98. 1 CHICAGO GRAIN I CHICAGO, Dec. 10 Scarcity of of 1 ferings gavo an upward swing today E to the corn market Short sellers who " attempted to cover found the opera- S tion difficult and were obliged to bid t against each other. Unfavorable weather wea-ther put the bears at a disadvantage. Opening prices, which ranged from tho same as yesterday's finish to lVc higher with January ?1.31Vl to 1.31 and February $1.30 to 1.30, were followed by a moderate sag and then by a decided advance all around. Oats hardened with corn. After opening op-ening a shade off to Vic up with January Jan-uary 72 to 72 c, the market scored slight general gains. Provisions were dull and steady. The market appeared to bo governed by the firmness of hog values here. Realizing sales and the fact that receipts re-ceipts here were liberal tended later to bring about relative weakness. The market closed unsettled, V&c off to 1 V2 c advance, with January $1.31 to 1.31V-and 1.31V-and May $1.30. CHICAGO.
