Show .15,000 Attend Races To Benefit Red Cross HAVANA, Jan. 31. Red Cross day drew a crowd of 15,000 spectators to tho Oriental park race course this afternoon. It was the largest crowd that over witnessed the running of races in Cuba. President Menocal and representatives or all the allied nations na-tions occupied boxes in the grand stand. In the President Menocal handicap the favorite, Sun-God, beat Olga Star a length and a half. The winners portion por-tion was 51640. Hans Lobort, the ex-Giant, won tho novelty race. He beat one motorcycle out an Inch and ran 535 yards In 1:13. Lobert threw himself across the winning win-ning mark and collapsed, but quickly recovered his -wind. Ho was embraced by his old pal, John J. McGraw, who rooted like an Indian for Lobert to last long enough. |
