Show LOGI AGGIES HQ DENVER 0. CLAIM GHPIBHIP LOGAN, Nov. 20. The Aggie football foot-ball aggregation will wind, up its season- of regular scheduled contests at Salt Lake on Thanksgiving, when it tangles with Coach Nelson Norgren's eleven on Cummings field. If the Logan team continues its winning win-ning streak, it will havo a disputed claim to the conference championship, champion-ship, such claim being disputed by Denver university, which has also gone through its complete schedule without a defeat. Several Denver scribes have been talking about a post season game, and if it can be arranged, it is certain that the fans and players of ihc U. A. C. will stop at nothing to get into IL The question of the field on which it should be staged would no doubt have to be determined by the toss of the coin, as the Ministers would want the game in Denver and the Aggies would like to havo It in Salt Lake. But no matter where the game is played, the Aggie players are anxious to meet thir sturdy rivals from Colorado. Colo-rado. Probably one of the big surprises of the year occurred last Saturday when tho Aggies trimmed the Boulder-ltes Boulder-ltes by the score of 23 to 0. It was predicted that the Logan boys would be returned victors, but very few backers back-ers expected to see such a one-sided srnrr. The truth of the matter is that Boulder was outclassed, falling to : make first down in the first half, and 1 only in the second half on a couple j of successful forward passes. Coach Jack Watson just turned the tables on 'the visitors, who were looking look-ing for open play with wide end runs by the speedy backs. Instead of opening open-ing up, the Aggie mentor resorted to straight line bucking and the Colorado line could not stop the human ram rods, which Coach Watson has developed devel-oped out of an abundance of green ma-' ma-' terlal. j It was a shame that some sport I writers who spend a great part of the I winter figuring out an all-conference I football aggregation were unable to I witness the contest in Logan Sarur-I Sarur-I day, as many men showed some excep-1 excep-1 tio'nal ability in all phases of the ' game. Conkwrlght, young plunging I fullback of the Farmers, played one of I the greatest games of his career. 1 Called upon time and again to carry ' tho oval, he responded willingly and not once during the entire contest was he thrown for a loss, and many times i ho carried two or three tacklers for ! a number of yards before being I downed. He was, in every play, and is kur'm ; one of the hardest tacklers I ia this neck of the woods. Critics I should not overlook this sorrel-headed j youth when the time comes for all-i all-i conference selections. Percy Hanson, I playing with a sprained wrist, dodged I his way In and out, making several long gains against his heavier rivals. Twitchell and Mohr, tackles, on whom Boulder's offense centered, played their old consistent game, and soon discouraged the Coloradoans' backs, who were unable tio make ground through these men. Watson rested his men Monday, but tomorrow will again see him driving his men just as hard as ever, as the game on Thanksgiving Is considered one of the hardest of the year. The squad is in good condition, and Salt J Lake will see the Aggies' strongest line-up on Turkey day. |
