Show Special To The Ogden Standard. Many of our beet growers from Garland Gar-land and surrounding country attended attend-ed the annual meeting of the Boxelder cqunty Farm bureau held at Brigham City last Saturday for the purpose of discussing the price of- raising sugar beets for the coming season. Miss Shell King and Miss Inez King were married Wednesday to Lafayette Hawks of Portage and Glen Baker of Croo. The marriages were performed at Provo where both of the 'young couple will reside for the winter. Tuesday, Dec. IS a wedding was performed per-formed in Salt Lake uniting two of Garland's popular young people, Miss Vera Edwards and Edgar Swlngard. Mr. Swingard has enlisted in the aviation avia-tion division of tho U. S. navy and will leave for San Diego, Cal., next week. Ellis Earl who inlistod in the army left for Salt Lake to visit with friends before his final leave in the service Mr. and Mrs. George Gleason loft for Brigham City to attend a farewell social so-cial to be given Wednesday evening in honor of Mr. Gleasons' brother Clifford Jensen who enlisted in the U. S. service. ser-vice. Mrs. E. Jensen visited relatives in Brigham City a few days this week. Mr. and Mrs. M. Abramson entertained enter-tained in honor of a few friends and relatives last Sunday. Mr. a"nd Mrs. E. V. Schneider entertained enter-tained a few friends at dinner Wednesday. Wednes-day. Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Garvcr, announce the engagement of their daughter Miss Ellen Laverno' to Harry Falkner. Tho wedding will take place In Ogden, Dec. 24. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Lesiger eft this week for Moore, Idaho, where they will spend the winter. . Mrs. ... 1. Grover and Miss Hattie Hess were visiting in Ogden the first of the week. Miss La Von Capener and Miss Flo Petersen who are attending high school in Brigham City were visiting their parents here last Sunday. ' Mr. and Mrs. H. Davis of Sugar City, Ida., have returned to Garland to spend the winter. $ Miss Eulalia Peterson spent purt of the week with friends in Malad City, Ida. Mrs. Wesley Carter visited friends in Ogden a few days this week. Mrs. G. Austin returned to Salt Lake Wednesday after a visit here with her sons and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Inthorn left Wednesday morning for Sabetha, Kan., where they will make their future home. Mr. William Thompson returned home this week from a three weeks' outing to Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. Wyom-ing. Mr. A. Fisher of Greybull. Wyo., former for-mer marshal of this city arrived here last Saturday to visit his mother who was very ill. He reached her bedside a few hours before she passed away. Mrs. Louis Bronson and children visited friends in Riverside a few days this week. Mrs. Frank Meir of Blue Creek is here on an extended visit with her brother bro-ther Mr. Frank Johnson and family. B. F. Ellenson, Verne Fridal, Roy Wyatt, Harry Sherwood and Bert Brownr five of our sterling young men who were added to the service of Uncle Sam, were guests of honor at a farewell entertainment and dance given them at the L. D. S. hall Tuesday Tues-day evening where about 200 of our citizens had assembled. The program was opened by the singing of "America." "Amer-ica." Addresses by Rev. Samuel Allison Alli-son and E. H. Cornwell, singing and musical numbers were furnished by a number of those present after which a collection was taken up and $55 was realized and distributed to the boys $11 to each.
