Show STEAMER STRIKES REEF AND SINKS WATCH HILL. R. I., June 29 The Clyde line freighter Onondaga. Boston I for Charleston and Jacksonville, lost her way in a heavy fog off Watch Hill, last night, struck a reef and sank in shallow water after her crew of 3a had been taken off by coast guards from the Watch Hill station. How the vessel happened to hit the reef was not explained by naval authorities Observers Ob-servers on shore reported this morning that the Onondaga was not entirely submerged. BOSTON. June 29. The steamer Onondaga, Boston for Florida points, struck a reef off Watch Hill last night and went to the bottom, the crew of thirty -five was saved. The Onondaga, a Clyde Line freighter, freight-er, left here Thursday afternoon in command of Captain Googlns Officers Offi-cers of the line here said they had received re-ceived no direct word of the sinking from the cr.ptain early today although they learned later from naval authorities author-ities that the crew had escaped.
