Show FIREMEN HOLD , JDINTJEETING Large Crowd Attends Session at Hall No. 1. Business of Importance Is Transacted. Johnnie Jackson Absent Ab-sent , As Told by F. Ernest Dean . Owing to the absence of Johnnie Jackson, who was busy reading fairy tales to some tiny tots of his acquaintance, acquaint-ance, and Arthur Sorenson, who, according ac-cording to reports was not able to be present because he was taking the affirmative at a debate in Riverton on the question: "If a Girl working in a Restaurant makes $12.00 a week, how much does the Coffee urn?" I, P. Ernest Dean, as president of the Joint Companies, feel It not only a duty but an act toward the uplift of civilization civiliza-tion to publish the proceedings of the meeting held by the joint companies at Hall No. 1, Tuesday evening of this week. . Now that I have made myself clear I will start by stating that one of the best crowds of the season was in attendance, at-tendance, and it made me feel proud to know that the members were again taking an active interest in the func- tions of the Fire Department. I am In a writing mood at this time and could offer a splendid parcel par-cel of real literature, but in order to keep to the point will state when the nominations for officer! wat announced an-nounced every member seemed to be tongue-tied, and naturally when my name wat mentioned for president for the third time I felt that it wat time to tay something, and being at how you have to listen to me now, will ttate that I hope that when the election elec-tion of officers taket place next month at Hall No. 2, that another it allowed to fill the president'! chair, not because be-cause I do not appreciate the honor, but because I think there are tome would not only make a good leader for the joint companies, but because we all have our ideat on different mattert, and at these social gatherings gather-ings with a new president in charge many things might be suggested for the good of the company. Now that I have finished talking about myself , for a few minutes, I will announce that Charles Kelly wat ' nominated for vice president and Dapper Dap-per Dan Fitzgerald was for the Nth time nominated for secretary-treasurer. Dan has made a good secretary, secre-tary, writing down the minutes of the meetings in such a way that he alone can read them, which meant that Dan must always be present to read them, and as he it always' present to read them there is no need for anyone else to read them, to when he reads them but why continue? : Dan .. hat a fountain pen, and as long at be is secretary he has a desk to lean upon, to why need a new secretary, and take Dan'a retting place away from him? Probably one of the real featurea of the meeting wat the presence of R. I. FerrelL who for many yeare wat an active member of Company No. I, and who hat since moved to Salt Lake City. Ferrell made a short talk about how lonesome he gets for the meetings meet-ings of the Bingham Canyon Fire department de-partment and how, when he met one of the boys in Salt Lake City, his heart yearned to be present at the next meeting, and thus the visit. Fer-rill Fer-rill made a swell talk, which was greatly appreciated. Art Macke did not get to the meeting at early at he should have, and the Law of 1919 will have to be discussed at the next meeting. meet-ing. An I have already said, I am in a writing mood, but time is short and I must close this yarn by saying that the eatt were of the highest order, the olivet surrounded my place at the table in profusion, and I ate heartily of the little pellets, and thus did the boyt leave the domicile of Company No. 1, and another joint meeting was written down in the records rec-ords as a success.
