Show I (Inure fire NEW YORK, Sept. 4 Stocks wore firm at the opening of today's market but later developed modorate reactionary reaction-ary tendencies. Hails were again the chief sustaining influence, especially; the trans-continentals group, which rose largo fractions. United States Steel was virtually' unchanged on its initial offering of 5,000 shares but soon yielded half a point. Baldwin Locomotive, Loco-motive, Studebaker and the petroleums petrol-eums were especially strong, Texas I company gaining three points. The market experienced declines during the forenoon but not until some specialties had made marked gains of from 1 to IVz points in the first hour. Pressuro continued to center around United States Steel which suffered an extreme reversal of one point. Marine preferred also lost a point, Sumatra Su-matra Tobacco 24 and General Motors Mo-tors 3 points. Domestic and foreign bonds were steady on reduced dealings. Reversal of speculative interest in steels, coppers and oils was observed in the afternoon, some of those Issues rising over best quotations of the morning. Tobaccos and other specialties special-ties also improved but further selling of rails caused another setback. OGDEN STOCK MARKET UNION STOCK YARDS, Ogden, Sept.
