Show FARM BUREAUS DO GOOD NOIKi i m Appreciation of the work done by tho county farm bureaus was the subject sub-ject matter of the following resolution passed yesterday by tho State Council Coun-cil of Defense, says Dr. E. M. Conrov, chairman of the Wober county council of defense. "Whereas, the farm bureaus in the state of Utah in co-operation with the Utah Agricultural college and the . United Stales department of agriculture, agricul-ture, havo rendered valuable service in stamping out contagious animal diseases, dis-eases, in controlling plant diseases, and insect pests, and in destroving predatory animals and destructive" rodents, ro-dents, thus saving hundreds of thousands thou-sands of dollars in. human food, "Whereas, they have aided extensively exten-sively In co-operation with the food administration and state council of defense in locating and supplvlng much needed farm seeds and farm credit to farmors "Whereas, thoy have assisted materially mate-rially In the organization of drainage districts, and redistribution of Irrigation Irriga-tion water to incroase crop production. produc-tion. "Whereas, they have given full support sup-port and co -operation in the United States government's increased produc-, produc-, Uon program In planting the additional. acreage to fill Utah's quota, and in aiding in all conservation measures. "Whereas, congress has recognized ; those and the many other activities ; of the farm bureaus and county agricultural agri-cultural agents as of sufficient importance im-portance during tho war to make spe- . cial appropriations for its immediate ( extension to every agricultural county in the United States. "Whereas, they have supported every Liberty loan, Red Cross, war , savings stamps, and other drives con- . nectcd with war work; therefore, "Be It resolved, that the Utah state . council of defense take this opportun- , ity to express its appreciation of the splendid service rendered by the farm bureaus and that It give every possible , : aid to these organizations in their pro- J grams of work, and in their efforts to : obtain proper local financial support 3.2 through the state legislature and ; d county commissioners, to meet the re- qulrements oft the federal department of agriculture in maintaining county extension agents in all counties of tho state.
