Show RELIEF NEEDED I TURKISH EMPIRE i NEW YORK, July 19. According to Ambassador Elkus, who has just returned re-turned froln Turkey, and Mr. Peet, who was for many months in charge of relief work in Constantinople and is now in Vevey, Switzerland, the need of relief is increasing throughout the entire Turkish empire. Both men say. too, that the channels for sending money are wide open, and nothing stands in the way of administering 'help save the lack of funds. A telegram just received from the American .committe for Armenian and Syrian relief from Mr. Peet gives the latest information as sent him by S. r. Fowle, who is today workin in Constantinople. Con-stantinople. "Fowle beseeching most urgently for money. People dying, workers becoming despondent," says tho dispatch. Sometime ago the committee sent $100,000 and additional funds were transmitted from New York on the day this cablegram was received. |
