Show oo Trout Swim in Ogden Gutters; Tourist Agents Please Notice Fishing in the mountain streams near Ogden may have its attractions and many fine fish have been caught In the said streams but it is probable none of them was ever viewed with more interest or created more discus sion than did a three-quarter pound finny beauty that was fished out of the gutter at the edge of the curb in Jront of the J. S. Carver grocery store on Washington avenue this morning. The lucky fisherman was Earl C&TVl r, a member of the grocery (Irm. who wa6 in the act of "hitching" his bicycle bi-cycle to the curb when he saw the fish. According to his friends, no nimrod ever felt more excitement or surprise in unexpectedly viewing a likely catch than did the local youth when the trout swam past him In the stream el water running down the gutter. Forgetting For-getting his bicycle, he went after the fish and caught it within a few feet of where It was first seen. Without the trouble attendant upon getting the hook out of a fish whw caught in the ordinary manner, this wanderer from the valley was placed in a large glass jar filled with water and put on display in front of the grocery store. It was viewed by hun dreds of persons during the morning. After having caught the fish, Mr.1 rarver proved his legal right to It by displaying a fishing license which he purchased last Saturday. Rumor had It this morning that a number of trout j were caught in the gutter stream on east Twenty-fourth street by some j small boys and some of the downtown I nlmrods expressed themselves aa be- ' ing somewhat anxious as to the condition con-dition of the screens at tho head of ; the canal that runs along the east I bench. |
