Show Cfsicago Grain Chicago, Dec. 9. Increased dangers to ocean shipping and the continuance of railway embargoes put wheat prices today on the downgrade. Traders here did not appear to place much confidence in predictions that the mimber of vessels available for trips between North America and Europe would be enlarged. Close attention was paid to gossip bearing on the amount of Atlantic seaboard clearances clear-ances and on the aggregate of world shipments. Opening prices, which ranged from the same as yesterday's finish to l-2c lower, with May at S1.74 1-4 to 1.74 7-8 and July at S1.47 1-2 to 1.47 5-8, were follpwed fcy a sharp decline all around and then something of a reaction. Corn developed firmness owing to scarcity of rural offerings. At first, however, the market was heavy in sympathy with wheat. After opening unchanged to 5-8c lower, prices sagged a little more and then rose to above yesterday's close. Oats paralleled the action o corn. Buying was mainly for shorts. Weed-end evening up of trades led to a decided bulge in wheat in the last half hour. There were forecasts of great foreign buying in the near fu-ture. fu-ture. The close was strong, 2c to 2 7-8c net higher with May at Sl.77 1-8 to 1.77 1-2 and July at $1.49 1.2 to 1.49 3-4.
