Show FASHION SHOW WILL ' BE THREE DAYS OF GREAT JOY Newspapermen, members of the Fashion Show publicity committee and representing Ogden and Salt Lake dallies, met at luncheon at the Weber Club at noon today, the guests of James P. Casey. They were given an outline of the three days of celebration cele-bration beginning Thursday, September Septem-ber 7, as follows: On Thursday. In the morning Foot parade. Evening Continental Congress and unveiling of queen. On Friday. Morning Chariot race. Afternoon Road race to the Hot Springs; Baby Show. Evening Auto parade. On Saturday. Morning Industrial parade 10:30 o'clock. Afternoon Barbecue 2 o'clock; broncho busting; daylight fireworks'. Evening Fireworks on foothills 7:30 o'clock. Jitney dance each evening from S o'clock to midnight- Big Barbecue. This morning workmen started to erect the ovens for roasting the steers for the barbecue. In addition, an oven is to be built wherein 8.000 potatoes will be roasted, and a tank six feet high and six feet in diameter Is being constructed In which 400 dozen ears of corn are to be cooked. "We expect to have enough to serve everj'body once and four officers on hand to discourage 'repeaters' " was the statement made by Chairman Thomas G. Burt, or the Harvest Festival Fes-tival barbecue committee, this afternoon. after-noon. He then launched into an explanation ex-planation of the plans that have been laid for this big Saturday afternoon feature. Two steers will be barbecued, he said, and with their meat as a foundation, founda-tion, the menu of the mammoth free public dinner will Include 400 dozen eurs. oi sweet corn, o.ouu pouuus oi potatoes, two barrels of pickles, 000 loaves of bread, three crates of lettuce. let-tuce. 125 Dounds of butter, 100 pounds of fine table salt and other seasoning to suit the individual taste The butter but-ter will be cut into individual pieces and wrapped. For this purpose 5,000 sheets of oil paper has been ordered. An additional 5,000 sheets has also been ordered for the serving of the salt. Four thousand paper plates will also be used. Four washtubs will be used for the serving of the corn and the same number num-ber will be used for the handling of the gravy from the barbecued meat. Three ovens are to be built, one tor the roasting of the two steers, one for-the for-the corn and one for the potatoes. The force of helpers, which will work under the direction of Messrs. Burt, W. A. Bertke. S. S. Jensen, Arthur Kuhn and P. T. Wright of the barbecue barbe-cue committee, will include a professional profes-sional chef, four butchers, two bread slicers, two pickle sllcers, one corn cook, one potato cook, 16 serving men and 15 supply men. There will be four aisles leading to the tables and a special police officer will be stationed sta-tioned at the entrance to each one. |
